Quick answer

Record the lecture where recording is allowed, or import the audio or video you have been given. Transcribe Audio to Text makes the transcript on your iPhone. Replay technical terms and edit misheard words. Keep your study notes and slide references separately, with manually noted playback times for passages you want to revisit.

Should I record or import the lecture?

Use the supplied recording when one is available. For a new recording, test a short passage from your actual seat. A clear voice near the front can become difficult to hear at the back. Ask about recording arrangements beforehand, prepare the app before class and keep the microphone uncovered.

How do I process the recording?

Check that a supplied file is fully downloaded and contains the complete session. The first engine preparation is separate from the lecture itself. Choose the recording or import route below, then keep the app open during transcription. Long sessions and a warm phone can take more time.

  1. To record a new session, choose Record, the spoken language and Start recording. Tap Stop at the end; the full text is produced afterwards.
  2. After selecting an audio or video through Choose a file, choose the spoken language and Fast or High, then start transcription. Keep the app open while it works.
  3. Open Transcript when processing finishes and check the opening, a middle passage and the ending.
  4. Tap a transcript word to replay an uncertain phrase, then use Edit text to correct the paragraph.

Which words deserve a second listen?

Review unfamiliar terms, dates, formula names and short negatives before using the text to revise. A plausible everyday word may have replaced a technical term. Check against the audio and course materials. If a spoken reference depends on a diagram, add a separate slide note rather than pretending the picture was transcribed.

How can I turn it into useful study notes?

Keep the reviewed transcript as your reference. Write shorter study notes separately, with questions, slide numbers and any playback times you need to revisit an explanation. Export DOCX for editing or PDF for reading. On eligible Apple Intelligence devices and languages, Clean read can help turn spoken wording into prose; check it against the original rather than treating it as a course summary.

Questions you may have

Will text appear live during class?

The full transcript is made after Stop. Use the recording indicator to confirm capture and review the text afterwards.

Can it recognize the lecturer across a noisy room?

It cannot guarantee that. Test your seat first; distance, noise and overlapping questions can hide words that recognition cannot recover.

Does it include the slides?

No. It transcribes speech. Add visual information and slide references yourself in your notes.

Can I use a recorded online class?

Import the local audio or video file supplied to you. The app does not join calls or fetch a lesson from its web link.
