Terms and Conditions
This document covers the iPhone app. For this website and the former launch-email list, read the website privacy information.
Transcribe Audio to Text · Effective 25 October 2026
1. About these terms
These terms are between you and Transcribe Audio to Text ("we", "us") and apply when you download or use Transcribe Audio to Text ("the app"). By using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. How we handle information is described in the Privacy Policy.
2. Licence
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on Apple devices that you own or control, for your own use and as allowed by the Apple Media Services Terms and Apple's standard licence for apps. We keep all rights in the app that these terms do not give you. Open-source parts of the app, including Whisper and WhisperKit, stay under their own licences, which are listed in Acknowledgements in the app.
3. Your recordings and content
Your recordings, files and transcripts are yours. They stay on your iPhone, and we do not receive them or claim any rights in them. You are responsible for your content and for having the right to record, transcribe and share it. Laws about recording conversations differ from place to place: tell people and get their consent where the law requires it.
4. Acceptable use
Use the app lawfully. Do not use it to record or transcribe people unlawfully or without required consent, to infringe other people's rights, to harass or harm anyone, to try to break, copy, reverse engineer or interfere with the app (except where the law allows it), or to send us feedback that is unlawful, abusive or malicious.
5. Transcripts can be wrong
The app uses artificial intelligence to turn speech into text and to write summaries, highlights, chapters and other results. These results can contain mistakes, omissions, wrong names or numbers, wrongly detected languages, or text that was not said. They are not guaranteed to be accurate or complete. Always check them against the recording before you rely on them, especially for legal, medical, financial, safety-related or other important decisions. Do not use the app as the only record of anything important.
6. Features that depend on your device, and heat
Transcription needs an iPhone running a supported version of iOS, enough free storage and memory, and can take a long time for long recordings. Writing tools depend on Apple Intelligence and Apple's language support, which are provided by Apple, may not be available on every device, language or region, and may change.
Transcribing makes your iPhone work hard, especially on long recordings, so it can become warm or even hot and its battery can drain faster. The app rests during a long transcription when your iPhone gets warm so that it can cool down, and you can stop a transcription at any time. Please use the app sensibly: keep your iPhone out of direct sun, hot cars and soft surfaces that trap heat, and stop if it feels too hot to hold. You use the app at your own risk as far as heat and battery use are concerned.
7. Free minutes and purchases
The app is free to download and includes 30 minutes of free transcription. The free minutes are counted in minutes of audio, once in total and not per month. Recording, importing, reading, searching and exporting are never limited, and what you have already transcribed stays yours whether or not you buy Unlimited. To transcribe more after the free minutes, you need Unlimited, which you can buy in the app as a one-time purchase. It is a single payment, not a subscription: it does not renew, and it unlocks unlimited transcription on your Apple Account for as long as the app is available on the App Store.
The price is shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency; local taxes may apply. The purchase is made with, and processed by, Apple through your Apple Account. We do not receive your payment details. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
Refunds, cancellation rights and payment problems are handled by Apple under its own terms, and your statutory consumer rights are not affected. You can ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. "Restore Purchases" in the app and in Settings brings a purchase back on the same Apple Account, including on a new iPhone. Where Apple allows a purchase to be shared with your family, your family members may use it too. If we change the price, the new price applies only to new purchases and does not affect a purchase you have already made.
8. Usage statistics and feedback
The app may send usage statistics and, if you choose to send it, feedback, as described in the Privacy Policy. If you send feedback, you give us the right to use it to improve the app without payment or credit to you. Please do not include confidential information.
9. Availability and changes
We may change, suspend or stop the app or any feature, and may update these terms, for example when the law or the app changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using the app after a change that is not important, you accept the updated terms. For important changes we will tell you in the app.
10. No warranty
The app is provided "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we do not promise that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, accurate, or suitable for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.
11. Limit of liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost data, damage to or wear on your iPhone, its battery or its storage (including from heat or heavy use), or loss that comes from relying on a transcript or other result. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim, or to 50 euros if you paid nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
12. Ending
You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may end your licence if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as sections 5, 10, 11 and 13, continue after that.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by Danish law. Disputes are decided by the courts of Denmark, but if you are a consumer in the EU you keep the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live, and you may also bring a claim in the courts there.
14. Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app, and, to the extent the law allows, has no other responsibility for it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you once you accept them.
